Whatever you do, you have to care.
You have to take the time.
You have to do it right.
Even if it means double checking, triple checking, following up, following through, going over the details, getting your facts straight, getting up early, staying up late or taking extra time (even on your own time).
Even if you just do it for the money – you have to care.
But please don’t just do it for the money (unless you have to).
But you still have to care.
Almost anything that can be done, can be done meaningfully, and can be full of meaning.
Almost any work can be an art – if you care.
If you don’t care it shows.
It’s bad for you, me and the rest of the world.
Yes, it matters that much.
It matters because you make it matter.
When you don’t care, you’re parceling out your soul, and you’re cheating the rest of us.
So if you don’t care, learn to.
Or do something else – something you can care about.
But if you still refuse – if you insist on not caring about what you do, and not changing a thing - please don’t complain about it to those of us who do care.
We don’t have time for your complaints.
That’s the one thing we don’t care about.
